Project Engineer- Automation and Integration

Job Summary

Casco Systems is seeking project engineering candidates with electrical engineering experience in the power generation and delivery industry. The successful candidate will have seven plus years’ experience in leading projects with a focus on quality, technical excellence, and timely delivery. In addition to demonstrating knowledge and experience in engineering, the ideal candidate will also have the ability to work autonomously in a complex, technical environment where attention to detail and excellent communications skills are required. This demanding position requires an energetic self-starter who is comfortable dealing with both internal & external clients.

Primary Job Duties

  • Plan, engineer and manage all aspects of a project such as scope, quality, schedule, and budget.

  • Effectively use project management tools.

  • Supervisory and other duties as assigned.

  • Generate, maintain and deliver project reporting as required.

  • Provide technical design and engineered solutions for controls, protection and balance of plant equipment in accordance with customer specifications and company policies/standards.

  • Coordinate effectively with internal resources and departments including project management, design, engineering peers and team members, procurement, accounting, and company management.

  • Coordinate effectively with external parties including clients, suppliers, and contractors.

  • Manage cost & schedule milestones within established targets and proactively process contract changes and mitigate project risk.

  • Perform post-delivery follow up to ensure customer satisfaction.


Qualifications (Education / Experience / Certifications)

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or related field

  • Professional Engineering License preferred

  • 7+ yrs. experience in the engineering and development of protection and control systems for applications in the power generation or transmission industry

  • 7+ yrs. experience in protective relay setting

  • 7+ yrs. experience in protection scheme design and application

  • 7+ yrs. experience in electrical, electronic and software troubleshooting in an operating facility environment

  • 7+ yrs. experience in field commissioning

  • Background check, valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation required

Desired Skills/ Competencies

  • Knowledge of protection systems, systems studies, arc flash

  • Knowledge of power generation, transmission and distribution

  • Knowledge of NEC, NPCC, NERC and other related standards

  • Strong sense of urgency in the face of important issues and opportunities

  • Willing and able to adjust quickly to rapidly changing priorities

  • Identifies & implements continuous improvements to maximize individual, team, & company performance to meet customer needs

  • Aggressively promotes a safe and healthy environment and personally employs safe work practices at all times

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for teamwork, continuing education, problem solving and exceptional customer service

  • Must be well spoken, outgoing, organized, detailed-orientated, dependable and flexible.

Working Conditions (Physical Demands)

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and must be able to continuously sit

  • Must be able to walk on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

  • Must be able to push, pull, reach, bend, squat, crawl, kneel and climb occasionally

  • Subject to environmental conditions inside and out such as: extreme heat, extreme cold, wind and humidity. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions not included above.

  • Subject to noise levels above OSHA thresholds which will require PPE

  • Ability to travel and work in the field on short notice

  • Is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
